I've decided to be more vocal in 2024.
Specifically, ambitious people who are underutilizing their strength.
And I trust the person can receive my 2 cents and decide if they want to do something about it or discard it.
Like meeting a doctor telling you to get that mole checked.
(Open parenthesis....
BTW, It's a good thing to get our skin checked regularly; I waited too long, and my face had to go under the knife!
The dermatologist was so cool; she and I became good friends :)
...Close parenthesis)
After two decades of giving candidates a vague and polite reason, I am now committed to sharing why they were not selected, even if it is not what they prefer to hear.
It starts with the interview.
If a job candidate struggles with reciting their resume, is too vague about their next steps, or feels uncomfortable talking about themselves, it might be time to hire a coach.
Interviews are much more than a verbal exam; they are opportunities to showcase that you are a brilliant and valuable MVP.
And you know what fascinates me?
It's that some of the most ambitious individuals with plenty of power and energy are often the worst at interviews.
They shrink, play small, and tend to talk too much in an effort to share all their skills and fit in.
That's right!
They have massive drive, resilience, ideas, and determination and often shrink to fit a job description or company culture.
Here are two things ambitious people tend to do in interviewing:
1- they'll say they are "open to the right opportunity" (read any opportunity) because they fear not being considered for a job.
2- they tone their skills down, fearing their ambition will take over, like an elephant in a china shop.
Since I just had one of those interviews last week, I decided to offer 6 one-on-one spots as a Feb Career Focus, just in time for the Year of the Dragon.
I've developed a process to help driven and powerful executives fully show up and, most importantly, feel seen for the MVPs they genuinely are.
Most power centers crave visibility and get frustrated if their skills are not recognized.
Yet, as their career grows, they often arrive at a space where they feel that their power might take over and fear becoming overwhelming for others.
I am a coach on a mission to make power players feel fully seen and stop guessing themselves.
So, if you are ready to spread your wings and take some fire breath, I invite you to a special Feb Career Focus.
This offer is for February for 6 people looking for personalized attention and ready to take off because you've dreamed of it.
We will schedule two one-on-one sessions of 90 minutes together.
These sessions will focus on developing ninja-level interviewing skills so you can land the next BIG job waiting for you!
You will also get instant access to my exclusive Clarity method that shares my recruiter expertise immediately upon signing.
Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate.
Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness, that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, "Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous?
Actually, who are you not to be?~Marianne Williamson
Let's get your brilliant self ready for some 2024 adventures.
