My year doesn't start in January; I still follow the school timeline like kids.
And I'm happy I had a chance to unwind during my vacation -mainly spent horizontally napping, swimming, & gazing at shooting stars- because I noticed that the recruiting for the fashion industry is amping up big time.
My clients are not interested in hiring "good candidates" who will do the job well.
They want to hire the best of the best.
The trademark of the luxury industry is that it requires excellence at every level and from every employee.
So it was fun to hear how top football players are recruited. In the first 10 minutes of this Finding Mastery podcast, Michael Gervais shares how he interviews athletes by putting them under stress on the spot to see how they respond to pressure.
In every recruitment, skills are a given.
But it doesn't guarantee the candidate will be a superstar.
You also want to look for stamina and a robust mindset that allow them to manage the inevitable pressure.
And for that, you want to see how their minds work when things heat up.
Are they questioning themselves?
Are they comparing themselves?
How do they manage their resources?
The executives with the most robust mindsets get hired. Because the luxury industry has entered a much more competitive era, it must secure the best talent.
Learning to manage our brains by:
- Cleaning it from doubts and fears.
- Having a direction for what you want and how you feel when you have it.
- Understanding our patterns to become better at manifesting the outcomes.
All athletes have a coach for a reason: to master their skills and mindsets with serenity.
The energy - feelings and beliefs- we bring to our work dictates the results. Hence, shifting how we work to see it more as a craft than a chore is a game-changer.
I am wishing everyone - the younger ones around you and the young at heart- a smooth back to school!
